Bodhimarga Board Meeting
March 2010
Present: Ben Gaylord, Steve Ring, Jeannine Hallenbeck, Deb Rosenberg
1) Retreat items:
a. The retreat house will be vacated by May. Board discussed items including:
-Furnishing the house. Deb R, Nan H and Karen C will be the committee to coordinate; other sangha members are welcome to help. Request for donated items coming.
-Use of retreat house for non-retreat times discussed, including individual retreats, weekend silent meditation retreats.
-Repairs are needed in the house. Involvement in supporting part of these repairs through Bodhimarga was discussed but not settled. A meeting specifically to discuss involvement will be planned, with Steve Ring (owner of retreat house) excused in order to insure no conflict of interest.
b. More organized activities during retreats will be planned, including dinners, movies and discussion groups. Board will be consulting Ven Tenzin on topics.
c. Long retreat is planned for June 2010 at the Fairplay site.
2) Board Representation:
Representation from other parts of the country (world) will be sought. Time of meeting will be changed in order to accommodate east coast board members as they join.
3) Shrine insurance: The donated shrine has been appraised, and board will be investigating insurance for it.
4) Ven Tenzin has requested a few more items for the shrine room; Ben will contact him about his wishes.
5) Communications director is still needed for Bodhimarga. Ben will be meeting with Pati, former C. director, to outline job description.
6) Monthly donation through sign-up program: seems to be working well. Ben will provide a report for next meeting on specifics. Sangha members continue to be encouraged to sign up for monthly donations through credit card or bank withdrawal.
