In Praise of Dependent Origination
With Venerable Tenzin Priyadarshi
July 28-29, 2007 with a free public talk on July 27, 2007

When there is this, that comes to be;
With the arising of this, that arises.
When this is absent, that does not come to be;
With the cessation of this, that ceases. — Majjhima-nikaya 79

Among the many compsitions of the the Fourteenth Century Tibetan Buddhist Pandita Je Tsongkhapa (the propentiator of the Gelug-pa School of Buddhism), “In Praise of Dependent Origination” is a concise presentation on this central theme in Buddhist philosophy. The realization of Dependent Origination (or Inter-dependence) gives one a wonderful insight into the intricacies of how we operate within the domain of cyclical existence.

This retreat was a balance of meditation, lectures, and discussions.
