Description:

The Ruby Road is none other than the path to enlightenment. The late Very Venerable Taungpulu Tawya Sayadaw of Upper Burma taught that the process of enlightenment is like walking along a road on a dark and stormy night. Suddenly, lightning flashes and in the palm of your hand a precious ruby you are carrying becomes visible. In the realm of meditation practice, it is the occurence of a ‘flash of insight’ and represents the mind which dwells in the darkness of ignorance suddenly being lifted to freedom through the realization of the precious Jewel of the Dharma. In the Theravada tradition of the Four Stages of Sainthood, the lightning flashes four times for the Four Stages: Streamwinner, Once Returner, Never Returner, and Arahat. In the Abhidhamma teachings, moving from ignorance to freedom is the greatest healing there is.

This retreat will combine the teachings of the Abhidhamma with practice sessions conducted in the satipatthana-vipassana tradition.
